Why You're Drawn to Someone Before You Even Know Them

The Astrology of Instant Attraction

There is a moment - and I think you know the one - where someone walks into a room and something in you shifts. Not loudly. Not dramatically. But something does. Before you know their name. Before you've said a word.

I've felt it myself. That pull that has no rational explanation - toward someone who, on paper, doesn't fit any version of what I thought I was looking for. And I spent a long time trying to understand it with the tools I had: logic, conversation, introspection.

It wasn't until I began to understand Venus and Mars - truly understand them, not just as symbols but as living forces in a chart - that something clicked.

Attraction, I realised, isn't a mystery that resists explanation. It has a language. And astrology speaks it fluently.

Venus - the pull you can't name

Your Venus is the part of you that reaches. She describes what you find beautiful before your mind has a chance to decide if it should. The quality of energy - not appearance, not status, but energy - that makes you lean forward without knowing why.

I think of her as the place in you that remembers what it feels like to be truly seen. To feel at ease. To feel, without needing to explain it, that something is right.

She also shapes how you love once you're in something. What makes you feel held. What leaves you quietly starving even when everything looks fine from the outside. The difference between feeling loved in theory and feeling loved in a way that actually lands.

Venus doesn't tell you who to love. She shows you how you love — and what you've always, quietly, been searching for.

Mars - the force that moves toward it

If Venus is the pull, Mars is the step forward. He is the part of you that desires - not just physically, though that's in there too - but the deeper drive that says: I want to be near this person. The thing that makes you reach out. Or hold back. Or circle, waiting for the right moment.

In synastry - which is the practice of reading two charts together — one of the most telling things I look for is how one person's Venus speaks to the other's Mars. When that conversation is alive in the charts, there is often an immediacy between those two people that neither of them quite chose.

The Venus person carries something the Mars person is inexplicably drawn to pursue.

The Mars person moves in a way the Venus person can't ignore.

It doesn't need to be logical. Often, it isn't. That's the point.

Why the "wrong" person can feel so right

This is something I hear often. Someone comes to a session - sometimes confused, sometimes quietly embarrassed — and says: I know this person isn't right for me. I know it. And yet I can't stop thinking about them.

Sun sign compatibility gives us a sketch. Scorpio and Gemini, Cancer and Aries — useful, in the way a rough map is useful. But it doesn't show you the terrain where attraction actually lives.

Two people whose sun signs would be written off as incompatible can have a Venus-Mars contact so direct, so immediate, that the pull between them is almost involuntary. And two people with textbook compatibility can feel nothing — a pleasant conversation, a comfortable dinner, and none of that electricity.

The most honest question isn't "are we compatible?" It's "what is this connection actually asking of us?"

When the pull is real - and complicated

I want to say something carefully here, because I think it matters.

Intense Venus-Mars contacts in a chart are real. The pull they describe is real. But they don't tell you whether a relationship will be easy, or whether it will last, or whether it's wise. Some of the most charged connections in charts are also the most complex — the same energy that creates the magnetism can also create friction, intensity, and the kind of challenge that asks both people to grow in ways they didn't quite anticipate.

This is not a reason to avoid those connections. It's a reason to understand them more clearly — with honesty, and with enough space to actually see what's there.

Because when you can see it - when the chart shows you why this person lands in you the way they do — the confusion starts to lift. You stop asking why do I feel this way and start being able to sit with what's actually true.

That, in the end, is what I'm always trying to offer. Not a verdict. Not a prediction. A clearer view of something that was already there — waiting to be understood.
